Welcome to the WESS Gazette Tuesday drop! This is a new addition to the WESS Gazette, featuring news from WESS, including recaps of the past week and any upcoming news, which will be released on Tuesdays to coincide with our Gazette meetings.Â
This week, we tried something different with our video portion of the weekly drop, which is run by Spencer. It is now a Weekend Update - style sketch show, including interviews from multiple WESS members on numerous topics. Check it out on our Instagram @wess_gazette. The rest of the drop will consist of a summary of what was discussed in the sketch.
Tomorrow 1/28, WESS will have a blood drive to help contribute to the blood shortage crisis going on in NYC. If you have any questions, email mars26@westendsecondary.com. If you are able, please sign up to help!
The seniors now have double lunch in place of the College Advisory class, now that most of them have committed to schools. Simon Sposito discussed how nice this switch has been, getting more time now that all the college work is done to relax or get work done for his classes.Â
If you haven't heard, WESS has a new lateness policy. All students are expected to be in their classes as the bell rings at 8:30, with escalating consequences for lateness. Ryan Gold mentioned how this change may be unfair for kids who live further away, but with some adjustment, it hopefully won't be too bad. Jake, a teacher at WESS, said he believes that students' grades may improve due to this change, now that they will be showing up on time and learning more.Â
Another one of the many updates to WESS, we are now in a new semester! This allows for grades to reset on JumpRope, along with new classes like a switch from drama to art or vice versa, and a new 8th-period class. Ginny Sanborn discussed how this will be a great chance for a fresh start for those who are looking to improve their academics during the rest of the school year.Â
