Desire

Shackled and chained lies a prisoner of greed
Consumed by desire a fact he’d rather not concede
This urge, this temptation, enveloping the soul
A disease of one's psyche, invading the mind as would a mole
He asks how do I escape, free of this ridden cage
So the guard responds in earnest, one cannot turn this page
For the truth is often sour, and this case is just as bitter
As the crumbs of lust compile, despite intention not to litter
